【12×12】Lasting memories / Notes to self

Here is my layout for Lasting Memories #458 challenge. The topic of this challenge is about flowers. I have many supplies related to flowers and it is hard to decide what I want to use. It has been a long time since I used my Silhouette. Therefore I thought that it might be a good idea for me to use a flower frame cut by the machine. I used Maggie Holmes’ Bloom collection for this layout’s background and embellishments. I also backed up the flowers with 6×6 paper pad from both Pink Paislee’s Cedar Lane and Basic Grey’s B-Side collections. It is very easy to back up these flowers petals with scrap papers. As it took time to decorate my …

【12×12】CSI N°291 Case File / Yay! My dear Grandma

This layout is made for CSI (Color, Stories, Inspirations) August challenge. Based on the Case file NO 291 inspiration, I chose pink purple color scheme and hot-air balloons as a starting point for my layout. In addition to some purple scraps, I chose to use some patterned papers from Maggie Holmes’ Carousel collection. I hand cut a hot-air balloon and a Ferris wheel out of two sheets of patterned paper from this collection and used them and some purple die cuts from my stash to decorate my page. I used a photo with my grandmother when I was back to Taiwan to visit my families back to 2011. I haven’t printed photos in a large scale for two years as …

【12×12】 White with 1 / Deep and pastel purple

It’s my first time to participate in the challenge organized by White with 1.The topic of August is to use the following sketch to create a layout with a focus on deep and pastel purple. I seldom use purple on my layout, but I still found out enough purple supplies to create a layout for this challenge. I chose to use buttons, masking tapes, purple cardstock, thickers and a collection of purple die cuts. As to the photos, I chose my white and black wedding photos to add some “white” on the layout. I aimed at finishing this layout during my son’s nap time. I hence decided to simplify my process to focus on papers instead of using mixed media. …

【12×12】Challenge YOUrself / Paris

The first Scrapbooking layout in August is for Challenge YOUrself’s Steampunk themed layout challenge. It is actually a July challenge but the deadline is on August 4th. I was very confused about this topic at first because I didn’t know anything about Steampunk. After reading the explanation on Wikipedia and seeing some related pictures via Google’s images search, I have a better idea about this culture. However, I was still hesitated and was not sure if I wanted to participate in this challenge as I am not a fan about Steampunk, which is kind of weird to me. Steampunk objects remind me that I actually have a set of stamps that is close to the style, but I didn’t use …

【12×12】Scrap Our Stash July Challenge / Udon

It’s getting towards the end of July. I decided last weekend to participate in July sketch challenge on Scrap Our Stash’s blog. The guideline of this sketch is to use either the left or right side of the sketch. On top of that, participants must use wood veneers on their layouts. Even though I don’t have many wood veneers and they are like treasures for me, this challenge encouraged me to use them as much as I can. To make a layout for this challenge, I firstly took out all the supplies that I wanted to use to save some time later on when I started to work on my page. I chose two photos of me and my husband …

【12×12】The Studio Challenges / Cut files and Die cuts

I made this layout for The Studio Challenges’ November challenge. The guideline is to use cuts files and die cuts. I cut some hearts from my Silhouette Cameo and wanted to use both positive and negative sides of the four heart shaped die-cuts so that I wouldn’t waste any scraps. In this way, I will have four hearts. Interestingly once I decided to do so, I quickly had an idea about my layout by simply placing these hearts on the background paper. The page was full immediately and I felt that the job is half done, which is of course not true. I ended up spending time selecting the embellishments to decorate the hearts and embossing the small parts of …

【12×12】Hip Kit Club / Hello

A new layout following Hip Kit Club’s weekly sketch challenge. This sketch looks quite simple, which however offers many possibilities. I took two of my wedding photos in Taiwan back to 2015. As I have many wedding photos to scrap, it was quite difficult to select just two in the beginning. But again, I remind myself of being simple, so I kind of selected two photos randomly among a great pile of photos. The focus is to find two small photos, so that I can match the sketch. Once the photos were selected, the rest came quite easily. When I saw this sketch for the first time, I was attracted immediately by the irregular frame around the photos. I have …

【12×12】Hip Kit Club / US

I haven’t been scrapbooking since Ambroise starts moving around in the appartment. During the past few months, I just hid my scrapbooking supplies in different drawers so that they won’t be “eaten” by Ambroise. Somehow I want to restart scrapbooking because I do miss it a bit. However it is not easy to see all my stuffs scattering/ hidden everywhere. I tried to keep my mindset simple and think about scrapbooking simply and it should be so. One night when Ambroise was asleep and I was not that tired. I took out a photo that I would like to scrap and with the help of Hip Kit Club’s weekly Facebook sketch challenge,  here we go. Here is the sketch that …

【12×12】Transparencies / Osaka

Here is a layout I made during the weekend to participate in Moon Lee’s June 2018 Facebook challenge. The topic of this challenge is about “Transparencies”. It’s a great chance for me to use some transparent sheets that I’ve been hoarding for ….hmm forever I guess. After a small “shopping” in my stash, I pulled out all the items that I might want to put together on a layout. You can see some green, blue, yellow, red and orange. How to The start point is the 12″ transparent sheet from Fancy Paint back to “2007”. I did mention that I’ve kept some transparencies for a while, right? I focused on this fancy transparent sheet with bright blue and orange colors …

【12×12】Jot Magazine / Forever

I created this layout to participate in Jot Magazine June Mood board challenge. When I saw the mood board I couldn’t help but keep saying Wow Wow Wow in my mind. It is so beautiful and elegant. I told myself that I must do a layout about this color scheme. I firstly went through my patterned paper stash and found out a piece of paper featuring pink flowers that looked similar to the one shown in the image 7. I decided to keep my layout simple by focusing on this piece of paper. I used some gesso on the background paper and stamped some short messages around the photos. I chose two black and white 3″x4″ photos randomly and put …
