【12×12】Paper Strips / Nijojo Kyoto

For this layout, I tried to focus on Paige Evans’ collections as much as possible. It is also created to participate in the biweekly challenge held by Happy Scrappy Place Facebook group. The rule is to “scraplift” Paige’s layout(s) to create a new one. I love the idea and have no problems at all to do so as I have already “scraplifted” many of her layouts. I firstly pulled out of my stash all of Paige’s collections and then cut off the paper strip of each pattern paper. I layered these strips to form a cross sign and had some washi tapes on the central part of the layout, where I decided to have my title. I chose two photos of …

【12×12】Hip Kit Club / Zong Zi

I created this layout for Hip Kit Club Friday challenge. Instead of following a sketch, the participants of this challenge need to do a “boys only” layout this week. I found a photo featuring Jé eating a Zong Zi when we visited my family in Taiwan years ago. I think it is a perfect picture to celebrate both Father’s Day in France and Duanwu Festival (Dragon Boat Festival) in Taiwan the day before yesterday and yesterday respectively. As to the design of this layout, I punched out two different sizes of circles out of some paper scraps I picked randomly without selecting particular colors. I just wanted to use up as much scrap papers as possible. Then I folded four …

【12×12】String Art / You are awesome

Here is a layout featuring string art of a big heart. For a person who doesn’t know how to sew with a sewing machine, do the string art with a template is by no means a great and effective way to create an easy but stunning layout. I bought this string art template long time ago and didn’t use it until I saw Paige Evans’ Facebook group Happy Scrappy Place challenge. This template is from Paige’s Fancy Free collection with Pink Paislee. The rule of this challenge is to create a layout with any heart design with Paige’s collection. What a great opportunity to use the template, right? In the beginning, I thought it was easy to finish the heart …

【12×12】Hip Kit Club / Love in the air

Here is a layout following Hip Kit Club’s June 8 sketch challenge. When I saw this sketch, I quickly chose the photo that I wanted to scrap and took out all the supplies I would like to use in just several minutes. I firstly placed all the scrap papers and embellishments on the background paper. This piece of paper is from Core’dinations’s “Sand it, Tear it, Emboss it” whitewash collection. When my temporary layout looked nice for me, I took everything out and started to work on the background with gesso and watercolor. Then I started to put back all the layers and embellishment according to the sketch. I tried to follow the sketch as much as possible, especially for …

【12×12】Hip Kit Club / That’s a good memory

I created this layout for Hip kit club’s June 1st Friday Sketch challenge. The following is the sketch I followed. This sketch is not easy for me as I spent some time in finding out the combination of different pieces of scrap paper. I hand cut some flowers and pink hearts and tried to place them according to the sketch. The title is from a project life card. I like to use ready-to-use title and project life card serves a good purpose. Here is the close-up featuring the cluster I created in the center of the layout. It is not easy to choose photos for this sketch. However, I managed to find out old photos of my trip to London …

Picture This / I love ART

This page is made to participate in November 1st Picture this challenge. The rule for this challenge is to use die-cuts, buttons, scraps and photo(s). I have many buttons and don’t use them enough. I think one of the reasons for not using them as often as I should is that they will not “get dry” like paint or other Mixed Media products. And that also explains why I stock that many buttons.  For this page, I want to have the title “I love Art” die cut from Wilna Furstenberg in the middle and color the background with Gelato. It’s like a stage in a theate, which curtain is raised. The main show is “I love Art”. Some …
